swaping 1.9 for 1.8?

Please help me.
I'm planning on buying a 1.8 for parts for my 1.9.
Is there anyway to take the DOHC off of the 1.8 and put it on the 1.9?
Isn't that the only big difference in the two engines?
Is it possible to make a cold air intake with a 93?
Do you that $250 for a 1.8 HO with 120K miles is worth it?

Before I got my escort, someone told me that the manuals will do 80 in second. I said, maybe 40 or 45. But I was wrong. The other day I did 67mph in second gear. She was still going, but she was reving hard, so I shifted to 3rd, then 4th, and finally 5th. That night, I got her to do about 110 or 115. In my opinion, that is flying for a little four cylender. I can't beleive I thought my couger was fast.http://

I think the 1.8 was a Mazda motor and the 1.9 is a Ford. There is not much, if anyhting, in common. For example, the 1.8 has a distributer, the 1.9 does not.

steve, your escort should get up to 70 MAX in second. I wouldn't do it though. You don't want problems in your engine like the timing chain failure and valves,lifter, ext. she must have been buzzzzing.

we must be spoilt in the uk, i have an escort 1.6 turbo that can do 150mph, it will spin its wheels in all 5 gears in the wet, and the first 3 in the dry!

i wonder how much different the uk/usa cars are?

the us and uk cars are very different, they don't share much in common except the name

How much HP are those "1.6" turbos making and if it spins the tires in 5th then it should have an 7 speed transmission.

and all that gives a nice reliable 238bhp, probably doesnt sound that much to you guys with big horse power cars a plenty out there, but when the car is only 780kg it goes quiet well (but not as well as my gsxr750!)

we dont have the silly regulations that you guys have on what you can and cant do, so its anything goes, there is a guy in the north of england that has got near on 400bhp out of his 1.9 turbo, they sell the 1.9 over here as a conversion, cos the american block is stronger, but you cant pull the revs with those engines, mine revs to 7700rpm.

The US and UK Escorts are totally different, all they share is the name and basic body style. The US Escort is the same as the Japanese/Australasian Ford Laser from the early 90's (just without the 4WD turbo model :()

The engine must have been screaming at 67 mph, I think 58 or so is the highest I went in my car in 2nd...sucks not having a tach :(

What i need to find out is,,, is there anyone who has a piper 285T2 cam.

and what are theese cams like and how does the car perform if you dont run 14 psi of boost ????
is the idle ok?
is all the power at the top or the bottem end ?

i am going to silver stone this weekend and will be getting a new cam then,, so any help/advice will be greatly appreciated...

There are very few RS turbo owners at this forum, the majority of the ppl here have the US escorts that are not even turbo'd.
