Driver's Side Mirror won't adjust enough to get good rear view

My 1993 Corolla's driver side mirror adjusts, but not far enough down to use it. Is there any way to reset the middle of the adjustment range so that I can actually use it? Do I have to remove the whole mirror or can I adjust it without removing the mirror. Does the glass just pull off and can it then be adjusted?
