This car was based on the Mustang II from about 1976 and raced in the IMSA road race series in the US. It was actually a semi-monocoque car. Charlie Kemp was pretty competetive even though he nevr got any backing from Ford. I think the engine was a fuel injected 302. The other cars in the series at the time was Porsche's 934,BMW 3.5CSL and Chevrolet Monzas.

I dindn't even know that Gunze made that kit. I remember Revell or Monogram making something similar to that with an engine withe a really large rear spoiler. Similar paint scheme too.
Great work! I used to love modeling race subjects, but got carried away with modifying road cars. :)

The kit was boxed and sold by Testor's in the US.The Revell kit was a mid 80's IMSA Mstang GTO car.

Competitive enough to get a kit made of his car, at any rate! ;)
