I bought a new stock muffler about 3 months ago, and already its caked with black deposits (carbon?). What would cause this?

Exhaust causes it. It's normal, I wouldn't worry about it. The only way to prevent it is to not drive the car...

That is normal. Sometimes it begins to rust.
What i did was take Black engine paint and spray it inside the tip. This keeps it from rusting.

Oh, and that RED on the exhaust is my friend bieng an ass and painted one of my tips when we were painting my valve cover......

thats about the point when i would cut off the ends and clamp or weld on some tips.....nothing drastic though...im tired of this 4" muffler tip shit.....looks like crap

Well, i am saving for the HKS Sport Catback exhaust because its a sleeper exhaust because it looks and sounds stock according to EF_LsVtec
