McLaren SLR

Hey guys, here's my McLaren SLR, built OOB and painted in Tamiya TS-40 metallic black. The kit is great with tons of detail, unlike their SC430 and Honda NSX kits that have come out recently.

The only build problem I had is the doors and hood don't really fit in the "closed" position.

I have a KA-models SLR 722 transkit on the way...I'll post pictures once it arrives, anyway, let me know what you think.

where is the clearcoat?

Have you noticed that the rear wheels are fitted on the wrong sides, they are facing the wrong direction.
Other than that, nice build.

Great build up! Love the matte finish on it...or was it not intentional? Looks great tho!

I like the matte black, but was that your intention with a metallic paint?

ahhh i see the reason for matt finish, maybe u should try take a picture with dark background, like the picture above.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone...I was going for a matte finish as you suggested blubaja, I'm so tired of seeing SLRs in silver.

I ordered the KA-models kit from Hobby Easy...$72 USD with shipping. The only problem is only 2 of the 3 fret of photo etch are included, and it looks like the mailman kicked the box to my house.

Looks great I really like the matte finish and Im so sick of silver slrs also. But like gpz900 said i would switch the back wheels.

I'm currently half way through making one of these. They do have absolutely superb detail to it! Looks like I'm going to have to buy another one now so I can have the 722 edition too!!! :grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes:

it's also a shame how the doors don't really open/close...the Enzo/FXX models seem to have much better fit

Would look cool with black wheels, model came out nice. The only thing that doesn't look too realistic is the bmf on the inside of the hood. Other than that its sweet benz.

I hear that!! I'm doing the doors now & they do seem a little tricky!!! :banghead:
