Car hates reverse...

Interesting problem... if I'm at home parked on our incline and I put it in reverse, the car doesn't move. If I give it gas, there's a loud THUMP and my car jerks backwards. It's never done this before but has been doing it lately, and I know it's obviously bad. Problem with reverse on my transmission mayhap? Please god tell me I just need new tranny fluid :p

I'd start there. Fluid, filter change, see if that works out. Could also be a torque converter issue. I'm sure there's other things as well, I'm more of a manual transmission person.

yeah, change your filter and top up the fluid. It should be good to go after that.

like everyone else said, change the filter, put in some new fluid... I recommend royal purple max atf :iceslolan :naughty:
and, DONT FLUSH IT, only filter change =D they'll have to drain the fluid already in there either way

Could have also just been from being on the incline.
Some FWD cars get stuck in "P" and wont come out when parked up on a hill.
But if they parked down hill it's not as bad.
Lets hope that's all it is :grinyes:

Is there a company that could beef up our transmissions to handle more horsepower? Like a custom trans build? I know you beefed urs up with an LSD Xero, but I'm talkin like a build that can handle like 250HP or so :p

Not that I know of.
Maybe !?
You can beaf it up with out the ep lsd,
just in the other upgrades. like the pump, VB, and bearing & seals....
Plus Ep sells a street version that's cheaper,
but I didnt ask how much cheapr.:uhoh:
But still, you could spend $5000 building it, and it wont handle much more then 235 Ft. lbs. of torque @ about 225-230 HP.
It will just bust the case where everythings trying to turn. :crying:
They just are not made very well.
I talked to some guys and they thought (ITO) that the 4t45 was better then the 4t65 :shakehead :screwy:
Thier reasons are they never have to work on the 4t40 series , so they must be butter.

since this is back up, make sure that if you're starting ur car in park on a hill or slant that the e-brake is on
like.... lets say, you're in a driveway... and ur car is backed up into it, do the brake and before you place it in park, do the ebrake... then park...
if you're leaving or having to go more reverse up the slant.... hold the brake, put it in reverse... and skillfully start giving it some gas just a little... and release the ebrake slowly as well the brake on ur car... might help
that method has helped me a few times... my GA likes to move a bit around in park and no ebrake... so I find myself always ripping it up when I park lol
