It should work, but you are using your TBI from your 91 on it - unless the donor is also TBI.
The cam profile might be a little different, but hey - try it anyway

Only the Caprice in '88 was still carbureted. The Camaro was injected beginning in 1987. So, you should be good to go.

Even if it is a carbureted engine (which it shouldn't be), all you would have to do is swap intakes. Both engines have hydraulic roller cams, one piece rear seals and centerbolt valve cover heads with 72-degree center intake manifold bolts.

1987 was the last year for a carb on a domestic ThirdGen. An IROC would have been a TPI in 1988 - Even a 305. The cam is maybe only a little better in the IROC than the '91 Caprice, but still a roller, with SA rockers and a lot better flowing heads than what the '91 Caprice likely has. The 305 will have flat-tops and net about 9.5:1 static CR.
Since the 305 is most likely TPI, try getting the wire harness, MAF, electric fan, and ECM, and enjoy the benefits of lots of extra torque (and better fuel mileage) in your heavier B-Body. It'll be worth the little extra effort. We can walk you through it.

I must have confused the 3rd gen with the trucks. I know one of them got the L03/L05 beginning in '87. Oh well, I digress.
To GetFreshco -
The TPI 305 actually puts out numbers similar to an LM1/L05 350, both in torque and HP. Plus, you get the economy of a 305. PLUS - that TPI setup just plain looks gnarly, dude. If you do find out the '88 engine is TPI, and decide to do the swap (and why wouldn't you?), do grab the fuel pump from the car as well. I doubt the fuel pump in your '91 will sufficiently pressurize the TPI system.
