Yes, its not as clean as it could be, but I didnt want to fuck anything up so all I did was spray it all down with simple green, rub some shit down, spray it all down with water out of a spray bottle, and rub some shit down again.

i saw the body shop near me power washing the engine bay of this Altima, and i was wondering if thats bad or not. Because i have a power washer for my house, and if i can use it to clean my engine bay, sweet, i'll do it, because it looks like it needs to be cleaned! Oh, and i have a AEM CAI, so no water will get on my filter, h opefully, but i can just take that out before i start spraying......

Cover up the dizzy, and be careful around the plugs, and it should be okay. That's what I do.

What should i cover it up with? should i put a towel on it? and should i tape it down or whatever? cause the power washer will blow it away and its got a lot of force on it.........

Run the engine
Do not use chemical on a hot engine
Pressure washers work the best
If a gargen hose is the only option lightly mist the surface
get the fenders wet & drape some wet towels to protect from cleaners
do not directly spray water or chemical on electrical componets/connections
do not use silcone based dressing
use water based dressing
i find a bong cleaning brush to be best in tight areas(4' long)
and a set of assorted cleaning/deatiling brushes
after cleaned mist everything under hood
then lighty spray water based dressing on the running (cool)engine
close hood & let sit for 15 minutes - leaving engine running
then go back & wipe down dressing & touch-up missed spots
dry & apply wax under hood, inner feneders, bumper, those kinds of places
just use care around electrical parts
if not comfortable pay $50 & let a pro do it // also if you pay a detail shop & something goes wrong, you dont have to pay for repairs, they do.
i have all kinds of detailing tips just ask
