COMPLETE: Customer's 1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate LT1

The second wagon I've completed of six... :uhoh: This one was a lot of fun and I'm REALLY happy with the way the woodgrain came out. I was really worried I'd never be able to nail it, since the woodgrain decals from Detailmaster were just awful and completely useless. But all in all I think the car turned out great.

Body is a '92 Roadmaster Estate from modelhaus.com... It's box stock except for the mirrors, which were moved to the middle of the A-pillar like all 95-96 B-bodies, and their original mounting holes filled in (see the WIP thread.) Chassis is a Revell Impala SS with some cutting and hacking, as is most of the interior except the door panels and dash, which are from the modelhaus kit. Exterior colour is GM Light Driftwood Metallic by Dupli-color, just like the real life car. Interior is GM beige. The woodgrain was achieved by laying a couple of coat of Testors Flat Tan with a wide brush, and then dry brushing over it with a Humbrol Rust Brown.

Windows were tinted with real window tint scraps I grabbed from the shop. The wheels are the optional pieces from the Revell Impala SS kit, which the real car also has, 18" Torq Thrust IIs. Trim and headlight buckets were detailed with Bare Metal Foil and a black Sharpie. Comments welcomed as always!

EDIT: looking at the first pic I can see the black wash isn't really complete on the grille, so I still have to touch that up. oops. :p

This one is looking good!!! I would never build it because it is not my taste, but that is why I like it cause it is your taste. Great job on it, love the wood grain!!!

Touche, I forgot to glue them on before I took pics. Normally they're on the doorskin itself--the mounting hole actually cuts a chunk out of the wood trim. I had to use small styrene to fill in the hole, shaped it to match the rest of the trim line, and fill it in with putty. The mirrors then go up on the A-Piller.

People have no respect for Buicks. I drive a 1990 Century Custom... wonderful car.

Well... He hasn't responded or anything, but I feel I still need to post my Usual Response to People Who Don't Like My Car:

Find me a car that can do all of the following and I will buy it and sell my Buick tomorrow:

1. Have RWD
2. Run 14s or quicker in the 1/4 mile
3. Handle reasonably well
4. Carry 8 people in comfort
5. Have all luxury options including power windows/doors/locks/seats/mirrors, Automatic Climate Control, Auto-dim mirror, ride leveling, a/c, etc etc
6. Carry 91 cubic feet of cargo (more than a standard box 1/2 ton pickup by the way)
7. Tow my racecar to and from the track reliably
8. Like all RWD GMs, be incredibly easy to work on
9. Have a relatively inexpensive and VAST aftermarket
10. Bulletproof reliability
11. Cost well under $10,000 for an ultra-low mileage example

Now if you can find me another car (besides the Caprice wagon) that will satisfy all of these criteria, I will get rid of my car tomorrow.

For those interested, Robert's is done. Needs a few touchups here and there first, and I need to add the engine bay decals (battery, belt routing, emmissions, etc) as well as the license plate.

Now to finish Scott's and badbowtie's Caprice wagons, and I can maybe just maybe take a break from building longroofs... :cwm3:

Hey, hey, watch it now. There are a lot of Buick owners on this site :lol: (me included.) Do they make a sedan version model of this car? I own a 1995 Roadmaster Limited sedan and think it would be neat to have a model version of it on display in my house.

Unfortunately no, the only one who makes a transkit for the Roadmaster sedan is TKM resin, the same guy who makes the transkit for the Fleetwood--and his work is absolutely DISGUSTINGLY BAD. Not a single straight edge on the body anywhere, pounds and pounds of casting flash, not a single flat surface, everything out of proportion, I STRONGLY recommend you don't buy it :uhoh: ...

Hey man. Wagons are awsome!! And to hell with anyone who disagrees;) (but it's just your opinion anyway) Buicks on the other hand...J/K
They both look great Tigger:) I wouldn't mind an all black one with the huge torque thrusts for a 1:1 ride. Keep up the great work John!
