is there a specific name for a front mount intercooler that has the inlet and outlet coming out of the back? I'm looking all over to try and get one, but i cant really find a whole lot. i figured if i could put in a more specific name, i would get more search results.
ive tried "backdoor", but i don't get anything. I've been looking on ebay, slowboy, dsmtuners(trader), and extremepsi.

a design like that utilizes the whole intercooler, or at least more than just the bars nearest the inlet.

Not sure if there is a special name for that type. I'm not really seeing how that intercooler would be more efficiant. Wouldn't it be better if the inlet was in the middle of the encaps?

That style isn't meant to use any more of the core, and it won't. The main reason for that style inlet/outlet is to use shorter IC piping. DSMs can only use it though on the outlet/UICP side. The inlet side will still be the traditional style with the inlet right on the end of the tank near the bottom. SBR's kit is built this way, and I'm sure others as well. Search using the terms short route piping, that was the unofficial terminology for this years ago.
For ways to use more of the core rows, check out AMS' EVO kit. The inlet outlet are in the center of the tanks and angled down. You add more bends and complexity to the pipes, so there is some compromise still.
