ok im having some problems with the engine i just put im my pickup. we checked it out for any internal damage before installing it but ive come across 2 important problems that need to be fixed. #1 is the charging system, ive got a new 750 cold cranking batt, a new altenator (that ive gotten tested), and a new starter. ive also checked all the connections and grounds, but the batt keeps dying. #2 is my cooling system, the hose leading to the heater from the block keeps popping off due to high pressure, so i put hose clamps on, now other leaks are popping up because of the pressure, also accompanied by high heat levels. does anyone know whats goin on? a cheap solution would also be great cause ive spent everything i have so far. thanks

First having it tested doesn't mean it is putting out enough voltage should be at least 14 volt check , with volt meter , truck running, next with truck off ckeck voltage at battery may take a while but watch it to see if it starts going down if so something is draining it . A light some where or something to that effect that may be on that your unaware of next bypass heater core and hook the hose from the water pump to the one on the intake manifold if it stops blowing hoses and relieves the pressure the heater core is stoped up and need replaced.Hope that can help you.

thanks, i did that. i also had to replace the thermostaste, it was jacked up. but now i have a prob w/my wiring, i accidently shorted the truck out. the headlights, tail lights, radio, dash, and brakelights wont work. ive followed the wiring and cant find the prob w/it. everything looks fine but doesnt come on. just the blinkers work. would u happen to kno what is goin on?

If you checked all relays and fuses check to see if power is getting to the fuse block It may be a hot wire that runs to the fuse box that has a fuseable link when shorted they blow to keep from frying the system it is a wire with a big round usually black plastic bulge inline of the wire . If it has power on one side and not the other it has to be replaced by another wire . Not all trucks have this it may also be a burnt hot or ground wire , you just have to visually check each wire from the battery and motor to the fuse block and on inside the truck. Pain but sometime its all that can be done check system by system , one problem at a time .
