EGR resistor question

Please don't flame me as I know this has been asked many times before. But I have no idea where to place the 10k resistor to get the CEL off. I have recently eliminated my egr because of a non egr phlenum change, and it never working correctly in the first place because my CEL was on for it way before. I have pictures of the probe type thing that came out of the old phlenum for the EGR. The only female connector I could think of to put the resistor into is on the other end of the probe, which is not on the firewall, but instead, plugged into a male connector attached to the firewall.

This is the male end that connects to a female end on the firewall.

Here's the probe that goes into the phlenum.

You put it right into the plug in thats on the firewall. Plug it in like you would plug in a socket.

What I'm saying is the socket on the firewall is a male connector and the connector shown in the photo is the female end of the connector. I can't shove a resisitor into a male socket. I must be looking at the wrong socket or something.
