I just bought a new reciever, Kenwood 135. It has two subwoofer inputs in the rear of the console. Would you recommend buying subs and just connecting them there, or would it be better to still buy an amp and run them through that.

home or car audio ? rear of the "console" ? If it's a round RCA jack on the back of a car cd player those are outputs, not inputs. You MUST have an amp to use them.
