so i was reading here and i think it was towncar who said "as long as you dont race it you wont have any problems". so it was like 3 am and i had to get home so i took the free way and of course there was no one on it and i hauled all the way home about a 20 min drive maxed out, then the next couple of days i hear a sound towards the front of the engine, damnit. i go to my car today and it was leaking coolant, my water pump luckily broke when i had parked the car lol. now it needs to be replaced :( but anyways since i have to fix that i will try to fix the smke problem once i have it all apart. i should have listened.

i had mentioned that in a previous post also about not to race these engines. they are cruiser engines. but don't feel too bad. you want to know how i know that? i had to learn the hard way too. i drove my old 95 real hard when i first got it and i had tons of problems with it. once i fixed it all up it ran like a champ until one day the freeze plugs blew, the oil pan started to leak, and the power steering pump went all at once. so don't feel bad. i learned the hard way also :icon16:

And my story was regarding the forward coolant crossover on the Intake Manifold.. Very embarrassing
My son's driving... I'm shotgun. We're on a two lane mountain road behind four cars, the lead car is going 40 in a 55.
We come to a clearing, dotted passing line wide open.. so I give the order, "pass them all" !!
My 4.6 with only 36k miles at the time throws us back in the seats, and easily overtakes and passes the group... my son holds WOT for an extra 15 seconds or so which launches us nearly 1/4 mile ahead of the clan... then POP!
Sounded sorta like the Battery exploded (kinda muffled), all the coolant dumped onto the engine and pipes, thick white smoke/ steam engulfed the Town Car and left a massive steam trail behind us...
I was pre-warned about the manifold and WOT.. but I chose to ignore the warnings and tempt fate....
We limped to the side of the road steaming like a MoFo while the four cars we just passed moseyed on bye..
Not one of my proudest moments :)
Close to home, we had the wife come over with 5 gallons in water bottle, we were able to drive slowly for about 2 miles between re-fills to get her in the driveway.

just installed the new water pump and runs great again, but i went to the local ford dealer to get a gallon of coolant and they gave me cheap ass no brand coolant but if thats what they use then i guess it cant be wrong. but then i get home and the seal is broke on it and i looked in it to see that it has been used and there is some particles in it never going there for any parts again. not to mention that the people at the parts department is full of people who dont know crap. never go to gresham ford.
