I finally made it here in Sydney, spending my summer here for quite sometime. Oyy mates! It's really refreshing to see so many riders here compared to back states in Florida. And I think the traffic regulations cater to riders, which is new for me. But then again, Sydney roads and traffic are very hectic, compared to wide lanes of flat land USA. You'd have to be smart to ride in Sydney, but it looks like a lot of fun. Having some good time working and travelling places. Cheerios.

Enjoy yourself down under Z. Are there any bike rental places down there? Maybe you could find yourself a riding partner and see the sights the best way I can think of, on a bike.

Mac,

Kiss my arse! Muahahaha.

Glad you're having a good time! We have been having some of the nicest weather here Stateside (nice weather in Pittsburgh is UNHEARD of during the Arts Festival), but between allergies/a cold and having to drive to Washington, DC today, I didn't get to enjoy any of it. :(

just to put it into perspective for the yanks stateside.....

all of the eastern seaboard of Australia has been on water rations for quite awhile. maybe 5 years. so that means no washing cars, no watering gardens and no hosing of hard surfaces. our dams our down to 30% capacity. our govenrment has been debating how to get more water from desalination plants.

all our "lawns" are dead and brown. some of us are lucky enough to have recycled water to water our gardens with.

bottom line is its been dry as a dead dingoes donger.

now Z gets down here and its forcast for 6 days of rain, not showers, rain and storms. my street has been a river all day. my back yard is soggy as sailors sao. (that may be a bit aussie for you. if it is i'll explain)

i won't be riding at all for the next few days at least.

now for a new weather report.

rural areas about 2hrs out of sydney, are flooded. a city 2hrs north is a natural disaster zone.
a road collapsed. the whole width and about 10m long section just fell away taking a family of 5 in the sedan into a river.
4m swells on sydney harbour have caused a ferry wharf to be broken off and sink.
8 inches of rain fell in 24hrs

Good god!

If nothing else, the people at the annual Arts Festival are glad we're not getting all that rain this year, but bummer your rain is so concentrated! :(

Hey guys, back after long time, although I doubt posting often. I was in Sydney for 2 months and 3 weeks to date, came back on the 8th of August.

Toured quite a bit of places around NSW (New South Wales), though I did not leave the state. May be next year will have to be Cairns, Brisbane, and Melbourne. I was so sure of going to Goldcoast and Great Barrier Reef at Cairns, but time and circumstances did not permit. Still, I've seen quite a few beautiful places.

It's a wonderful country, relatively nice people. No one bothers you about anything, and even in place like Sydney, general people are nice to get a long with, unlike state side here.

The only thing sucked about it was weather for first month and a half, worst rain and cold weather. And then of course, Sydney cops. Their only job is not issue fine tickets and demerit points, not catch thieves and criminals.

Overall, down under is fine place to visit if you never even left your state before (although I have). With just 20 million Aussies, plenty of room to hide or be known.

Going back there in next summer (their winter). If time and money permit, I also wanna go to Japan in next few years.

And yes, I did see the brown stained Kitty Hawk. Best sight was there were over 50 F-18s, choppers, and other recon planes on its deck.
