I have heard you can get realtime sensor readings through the ALDL port on OBD-1 equipped vehicals... How does one do this?

I bought a cable from http://www.akmcables.com/ (or you can make your own) and then download WinALDL from http://winaldl.joby.se/ on to my laptop.
It only works on the ECMs that are listed on the website. I use in my 90 GMC K1500.

I have WinALDL installed on my laptop and I made my own cable following the instructions on the WinALDL site.
Since my car is carbureted, the signal doesn't come from Pin E on the ALDL (there's nothing hooked to Pin E), it comes from Pin D.
