Hi I have a 1988 town car 5.0 When I'm in overdrive and hit the smallest hill seems not to down shift, You have to shift it by manual. Yes the Linkage is hooked up.It shifts fine when it up shifts . Any suggestions? Thanks Danny its an AOD trans.

I believe your car has the vacuum. modulator. Bolts onto the back of the trans and has a vac. line connected to it. The vac line runs from the intake manifold to the back of the trans. Its usually a metal line with rubber hoses on each end. Could be a bad modulator or you line has come loose or the rubber hose is split on the ends. :2cents:
