My 89 cav. runs great as long as you're on the gas. As soon as you let up, the tach starts going down until it hits zero and you're stalled out. It just started doing this with maybe a minute of the motor "lurching" (best way I can describe it) prior. If I "two foot" it and press on the gas a little, it's fine. The only things I can think of are a clogged fuel line or filter. Any ideas? Thanks.

You may have a vacuum leak,or your throttle body could be dirty. I had that problem with my 94 cavalier rs,if yur throttle body is like mine, the air intake should come off and u can spray inside the throttle real good with carburater cleaner. I bet you'll get alot of power back just as I did. It may take a few treatments to blow that black stuff out of there. I think the carburater cleaner does a better job than the fuel additives. I just prefer to work on the inside of my engine anyways. If that don't work try a bottle of gas mileage improver or just 1 or 2 bottles of regular fuel injector cleaner. and by the way, that gas mileage improver really works for me and its 75 cents a bottle at my local walmart.

The stuck throttle body would actually makes sense because of the way the tach bounces around when I get off the gas. I tried the injector cleaner...no luck. I'll give the cleaning a shot and hope for the best. Thanks a lot for the help!!
