MIL Eliminators

Does anyone know how a MIL eliminator for the O2 sensors are made? Is it just a resistor? If so what is the resistance value of one? I put a couple on my truck after gutting my catilytic coverters because the engine light came on, but i noticed a significant power loss after dong so. I was thinking of putting on a variable resistance switch (ie a small dimmer switch) instead of using the MIL eliminators so I can manually adjust the voltage coming out of my O2 sensors without setting a trouble code. Will this work?

I don't know too much about it; whether it would work on a car with only 1 O2 sensor, but it works if you have 2 (1 being placed after the cat). So you put that on the 2nd O2 sensor. By pushing the O2 sensor further away from the cat, it will fool the ecu into thinking that the cat is working efficiently.
