Benetton B192 1/20th

The Benetton is finally complete for now. Later I will sand the tyre seams, but for the time being I am moving onto something new. What, I don't know yet. I'm stuck between another F1 model, one of the many rally cars I have, or a certain motorcycle I used to own in real life, but only if I can get the right colours for the body panels and also I haven't built a bike model for years. Advice I would offer to anyone who is going to build this kit. Test fit all the parts to get the best fit (nosecone especially) Take the time to fill all the visible joins on the monocoque and nose areas. Paint the green areas, don't use the decals. Get the S27 decal sheet. It's worth the extra expense.. Oh, and one last thing. The engine cover does not fit. I tried to fit it on for the photos and it got scratched all on the inside and needed touching up. So again, as per the McLaren it's displayed with it open. Pity really because it is quite a nice shape the Benetton. That's it here's the pictures. W.I.P thread is Here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=689676)

Wonderful Job Steve!
I enjoyed watching your WIP.
Shame about the fitment but it doesn't bring down the high quality on this build.
Congrats!

I still don't like the shape of that car ( especially the nose...) But then that's probably a matter of taste:-)
Your model looks brilliant and the build is soooo clean! Just great!
Congrats!

Brilliant work Steve, lovely shine on that engine cover. Very nice to see a Benetton built as Brundle's ride. :)

Had you thought of sanding/shaving the mold lines off the tyres?

It's not asbestos. It's just harmless concrete paving slabs that are in my garden.

Thanks Phil for your kind words.I have to sand off the tyre seams or Stevenski (Klutz_100) would never forgive me

Thanks guys for all your comments.I really appreciate them.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but seeing your beautiful build has inspired me to try this kit again. I built this about a year ago, was not too happy with it as the green decals has bubbles and dust trapped underneath. :( One question though, why did you use the Benetton decal instead of Camel on the rear wing? It just looks a bit odd is all.

The Camel decal got damaged.I have a new one now it just needs fitting to the model! When I get the time! :banghead:

Must have missed commenting on this one. Great work as always. The WIP will be the canonical reference for every future build.

Thanks Sean and all others for the nice comments.Seems like an age since I finished this one!!! I'm maybe looking at a formula one car for my next build.Possibly the 1/20th Tyrrell P34 by Tamiya.I'm just waiting on a few things before I get started on it.Maybe early next year.

Beautiful finish Steve. I've used your WIP thread for references and motivation for my current B192 build, like many have said before. I recently started my newly acquired MP4/5B, for which I will undoubtedly use your WIP as a reference :)

Thanks for the compliment,I appreciate it.If my w.i.p has helped you in any way with your build then I am pleased about that.I found the Benetton quite a challenging build really. If you can make a good job of the painting though you are 80% of the way there with it and looking at your w.i.p thread I can clearly see that you have achieved an excellent finish on your model.Keep up the good work!!

Steve, it's nice you tackled something different and you did a great job. I like the crisp finish. I understand what the guys are saying about the tyre tread, of course you could always add the stickers the new tyres have to make it look more like they were fitted new. But I would sand them off I were you.

Still, superb job.:)
