My gas pedal sticks only when pressing the gas for the first time after starting the car. I disconnected the air box so I could clean the throttle body, but I could not remove the silver screen without damaging it.
Any tips on removing this screen so I can get at the butterfly?

there is a snap ring that holds the screen in. You'll need snap ring pliers or a really small and sharp pointed set of needlenose pliers to remove it.

Be sure to remove the MAF sensor before doing any cleaning or troubleshooting throttle cable linkage-butterfly plate problems. Easy to break or damage the MAF. Two Torx 20 tamper proof screws hold it on to the TB. Carb or throttle body cleaner will damage a MAF sensor.
