About 4 days ago, after driving my car very.... well stupid, I noticed that once I Get out of first gear, in every other gear when I push the gas pedal past a certain threshhold, all it does is rev, as if I was holding the clutch in.

Has any one had this problem? If you have any idea what's wrong please lend me your assisantance, and if I have to buy a new clutch can you suggest a good brand, 'm looking for something that's good for performance

I'm assuming your car is manual and not automatic. Either way did you notice any sort of smell coming from the car? And how many miles does the current clutch have?

There was a burning smell the night it started happening. I can still drive it and everything, and there isn't a smell to it. I don't know exactly how many miles there is on the clutch, I have no clue if there was a new one put in before I bought it, they guy I got it from said the only thing not stock was the exhaust. So if it's the same stock clutch it'd be about 184k ( I just bought the car about 2 months ago)

stock clutches wont' last past 40k miles under spirited driving. at least mine didn't

what you are describing is a slipping clutch. you can drive it fine, but if you try pushing it, it will slip and hence why you get no acceleration. This problem will continue until your car wont' drive at all. if it's fine for now, and you dont' mind taking it easy it isn't 100% necessary to have it changed. if you continually smell burnt shrimp after you get out of your car, i would advise it because that is the smell of your clutch getting fried.

on the other hand. if the clutch doesnt' fix it you probably broke your trans. to tell for certain it will start slipping in 5th gear, then 4th then 3rd and so on in EVERY gear before it finally takes a crap. it should only slip under load, and it won't make any noise besides the rev from your engine. now if your gears in the trans got stripped a little, you'll probably hear a grinding coming from the engine.

500 is a steal, just make sure it is a quality clutch. if you get a cheap one u'll be back to do it again in less than a year.

wait wait...500 total, or just for the clutch. OR 500 for the install plus cost of clutch. If you are getting a clutch and install for 500 that is retarded cheap. If you are paying 500 for a clutch you are getting raped, and if you are paying 500 plus cost of clutch thats about right. My install cost was about 485 plus the 875 for the clutch and flywheel.

About 2 months ago, I had the same problems. After 1st gear my car wasn't taking offf.. like normal.

I tried everything first, like cleaning my air filter, checking spark plugs.. but nothing helped fix my problem.

I took it in and paid $795.00 for an exedy clutch and the labor cost. The mechanic says that the transmission will hardly ever go out.. being that it's built quiet simple, not too many parts can go wrong. My car has 85,000 miles and so far, ive replaced the clutch once. It fixed my problem and Im back to haulin A** on the highway..2000 MEGT Manual
