removed/removing emblams

I am taking off the emblams off my 2000 cavi. they are glued on so I am using fishing-line to remove the emblam itself, but what can I use for that glue left on there??? I have tried "Goo Gone" and it doesnt work. I am looking for sure-fire ways to get the stuff off and I figured some of you have. But I am not going to repaint it, so I need a clean way to do it... Any tips would be helpful... And let me know what WORKS, not what may help... Thanks.

all the extra tape, i used my finger to rub it off. then i used the goo gone. worked perfect for me and it looks great!

use a hair dryer to heat it up too it will help u out alot

the best way of doing this is to take flat screwdriver to get it off use a ball of rag as a lever. then take a knife and cut the foam behind it. get some wax remover then and it will remove the rest and the glue. then it is best to buff it so there is no mark of the emblem left

that sounds very dangerous to you paint job, one slip and you scratched the car

yeah, that will remove the emblem, the glue and all the paint under it so you will have a nice clean piece of bare metal. but hey, some people like that look.:grinyes:

If double-sided tape is involved, I learned from removing the wind guard off my sunroof that goo gone often doesn't quite do it. I mean, I took the approach of soaking a paper towel in goo gone, then leaving it on the sticky crap for a while. It was easier.

When I got too frustrated I finally figured out that some rubbing alcohol will take 3M tape right off. Just be sure to wash the area AS SOON as you get the tape off. I'm not entirely sure if it will damage your paint (it didn't hurt mine) but I wouldn't take any more risk then necessary.

Well...now that it is a month later, I got it all taken care of... Emblems are gone. (Front and Back, except for the "CAVALIER" on the back, which I may leave.) However, the decal of the dealership is still on there and I have NO idea how to remove this one... any help...???

Plastic razer blade and W-Sol removed the bumperstickers off of mine.

well even though urs are off now- guys i shit u not WD-40

spray it on and just rub it off- i had a spoiler on my saturn that i had to take off (buddy broke it in half) all the black foam stuff holdin it on, i tried everything from acetone to razor blade, trust me let the WD-40 soak in and then rub it off

You can also use gasoline on a clean rag.... gas wont damage the paint. Once removed completely, you can then clean the surface with rubbing alcohol.. and you are now ready to stick the new one.. or buff up the area and keep it without emblams.

well u can take my advice or not but most dealer stickers r either vinyl or a sticker of some sort using a heat gun and heat the sticker will do the job. but hey i did tell bout cutting off the emblams and i got shit for it so do whatya want but thats how its done at the body shop where i work and no paint comes off or nething. but u can get some of that scilone and wax remover its great for removing ne road tar and glue from paint. but u can just go and listen to some of the backyard "bodypersons" here.
