1994 Gmc Sierra Differential question

i was looking through ebay and found a front diff for my 94 gmc but it came off of a 96 tahoe, my question is would this fit my truck? it has the same gearing as i have (3.42) but i dont want to buy somthing and then have it not work, so if someone could chime in on this it would be a great help to me.
