I was wondering if their was a connection between the Dodge Lancer and the Mitsubishi Lancer.
Did Mitsu. buy the name and design from Dodge? Just the Name? or did Mitsu just Yoink the name and Dodge didn't care?

The cars are unrelated. Dodge had a Lancer in the U.S. and later Mitsubishi had a Lancer in Japan. Then, Mitsubishi wanted to sell it's Lancer in the U.S., but they couldn't call it that because Dodge still had rigth to the name in the U.S. So Mitsubishi called the Lancer the Mirage.

Until now. Now DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi are affiliates, so there's no conflict. That's why the U.S. got the seventh Lancer instead of the seventh Mirage.

:D

You're thinking of the Dodge Colt. It was a Mitsubishi Lancer "Imported for Dodge." The Dodge Lancer is from 1962.

Okay. :D Your Lancer is not a Mitsubishi Lancer. It's the decendent of the Lancer from the '60s I mentioned, and the reason the Mistubishi Lancer got called the Mirage.

So, when Mitsubishi wanted to sell the Lancer in the U.S., it got sold as a Mitsubishi Mirage, a Dodge Colt and a Eagle something...

Unless... Is there any other indication that your Lancer is related to anything Mitsu? Doesn't your car have a Chrysler twin?

Yep, The Dodge Lancer ES is the exact twin of the Chrysler LeBaron GTS.
Lancer EVO- There are Mitsu Parts on that car- The oil pan, notably. when we rebuilt the engine, the rebuild Manual told us to order More Mitsu parts than Dodge...One second while I find the "confused" smiley...Ah, Here it is-:help:

Also- I know of Three Eagle models- Talon, Vision, Premier. I know Premier was related more to the Dodge Dynasty, Chrysler LHS and such cars...I'd imagine The Vision is the Eagle cersion of the Mitsu Lancer- it was a high performance 4 Door sedan...Just my geuss, no flame!

The Talon was the Mitsu Eclipse. The Vision may have started out like the Lancer, but the last model sure wasn't... I'll try and look it up for you later... :D
