i have a 1992 Ranger with a 2.9L V-6, it has a lot of problems, the check engine light randomly comes on and the truck sometimes idles rough at stoplights. Another problem i have been experiencing is that my truck smells like it is hot or burning oil, but there is no smoke from the exhaust or motor, and the temp. gauge reads that the motor is running about normal, when i check the oil and antifreeze they are always both low, but the motor doesn't seem to be leaking any fluids, I am Stumped, on top of all that, my motor has now started to knock a little bit, Please help me!!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Sounds like you might have a blown head gasket. You might want to check your oil and see if it is milky at all. Also check inside of your radiator and see if you have any oil in it.

Good possibility you have a blown gasket. Notice any white smoke out of the tailpipe? Losing oil and the smell of it not only could be the result of oil getting into your cooling system but also leaking out out of the hot block. In any case it sounds like you'll need a lot of expensive work. What's your mileage?

it has 167,000 miles, and i do not notice any smoke coming from the exhaust but there is sometimes smoke coming from the passenger side of the motor

Losing oil. Losing water. Smoke coming out of the engine. Narrowed down to a blown gasket. Looks like the gasket section blown is between the cylinder/s and external to the block and/or water jacket and external to the block as opposed to between cylinders and the water jacket. No matter how you look at it it will take a major an expensive repair job. At 167K miles I don't know if it's worth the repair.

id look for leaks on the ground. if you dont find any, just blow that sucka up and then pop in another working one.

if you find a leak fix it!
