hey guys, new to the forums, and yes i promise i used the search and couldnt find what i was looking for.
i have a 91 hatchback. in it is a dohc b16a with a LS tranny. it all of a sudden started wobbling as if the cv joints went bad. got it home and swaped out the axles with what i think are the exact same that i had put in when i had the swap done. the wobble went away a little bit, but its still there when i turn. right now, my car is undrivable =(
it would be appreciated if i could get some advice from ppl who are familiar with this type of swap (very common i suppose). what axles do i use for each side? what i ask for when i go to auto zone is axles for a 94 integra 1.8 without ABS, but i dont believe those are the right ones. any detailed info would help a ton, kragen/autozone/napa axle part numbers would be golden.
thx and much love

90-91 teg non-abs axles from an ls,gs, rs whatever, just make sure there from a non-abs car.
The axles will work with any b-series tranny you use.

ok just got done putting in the new axles from a 91 integra non abs. put in the pass side first, turned the disc, and no wobble. so far so good. put in the driver side, turned the disc, and there was a slight wobble. it was about 10% of the wobble it used to be, so 90% gone.
drove the car around the block, and it only wobbles slightly when i turn hard right. ive gone through 3 sets of axles. all my motor mounts are on right, my tires were mounted on tight, and had proper air pressure, i dont know what else it could be.
it all started one day while i was driving down the freeway. my car started wobbling while driving out of nowhere. heres the wierd part. no matter what speed i was going, my car would only wobble while i was giving gas. i could be going 90, and it would only wobble while accelerating, but if i were to idle at 90, no wobble. get home thinking it was CV joints, replaced axles and wobble still there. here i am now 3 sets of axles later and im out of options.
please help, currently im driving a 1970 monte carlo 128 miles to work, and im basically working for gas money atm >< need my hatch running again
thanks

did you get a wheel alignment done after you changed out the spindles for your swap? Are you sure your pushing the axle into the trans all the way so the circlip is engaging nice and tight? After that many axles there must be something going on there. Aside from a really bad wheel alignment issue, the only thing I could see causing your problem are misaligned mounts (or wrong ones altogether), the circlip isn't locking the axle into the tranny, or your axle nut isn't on tight enough.

bad bearing and its not the axles at all? But thta would prolly make a god-aweful noise..

what i ask for when i go to auto zone is axles.......
thers your first problem. i used to work at autozone and i like them. but their CVs aren't teh best out there. try carquest/napa. still a lifetime warrenty but better fitment/quality.

thats what I thought when he mentioned the wobble. A cv usually gets the wobble from lack of grease. I had mine go today actually, lol..funny I was reading through past posts trying to figure out if I could take the inner joint of my remaned right axle and use it on the left..I did and it fit, I had the same symptoms..horrible vibration off the line and particularly at high speeds when I was on the throttle. There is just no way that all the axles that you've put on your car are bad before you drive them though..gotta explain the wobble your getting when you turn the tire. Is it a wobble your seeing in the axle? The only way I could see that is if its binding somehow, and again..in all three axles? Have you smoked any curbs and maybe bent an arm on that side?

Sounds even more like a shot bearing, would really be noticeable when you put some kind of torque on the wheel, either forward..backwards, or rounding corners. If the actual axle is wobbling in the hub.

yeah i agree with the wheel bearing idea..i had to get mine redone after puttin in my b16. i was drivin back up to columbus one night and as i was turning my wheels wobbled and it felt like i wasnt in contol. probly couldve lost it right into the median if i didnt slow down and take side roads
