Ok, I need some help....

I have a 2000 MC SS with about 102k on it. The car has been running perfect forever, other than minor easy fixes. Now, however, I'm stumped...

Yesterday, I drove the car to work - about 12 miles, it ran fine. Four hours later I left for lunch to meet my wife, about 10 miles. Again, it ran fine. When I was ready to leave lunch and head back to work, the car would crank but just refused to run. If I played with the throttle enough it would run, but very very sluggish and shakey. I let it sit and went back about 5 hours later to pick it up. I decided to try to run it, and low and behold it ran great....right up until the point it reached operating temperature. It stalled, and again refused to start. About an hour later, I had it towed home and put it in the garage. Again, I started it...let it sit for about 15 minutes and it ran perfect....right up until the temps were normal, and I shut it off. I tried to restart it...and the same scenario.

A couple of things I noticed - very rich smell from the exhaust, as well as occasional "rotten egg" catalytic smell....

Anyone have ANY ideas what this may be?? I gotta get this car running ASAP! :frown:

Well, it turns out it is the Mass Air Flow Sensor. While I had it up on the jacks taking a look at the catalytic converter, I decided to go ahead and do a full exhaust replacement. Straight pipe from the headers back to the "Y", into FlowMaster Delta 40's. I've a friend who has his Grand Prix like this, awesome sound - gives it more of a "V8" sound. At least the original problem is an easy fix.
