I have a 2000 S10 ZR2, I have a basic pioneer cd player, put in some infinity plate 4x6s in the dash and boston 6.5 in the doors...I also installed a kicker 600.1 (rated 702 @ 4ohm) with 2 mtx 5500 in the loaded/ported mtx box....The problem is that when listening to the radio (doesnt happen with cd's) and crank up the bass the station gets fuzzy as if Im getting bad reception, but turn it down and its fine...Im not sure whats causing it...Im running good wires and ran them well, so Im kinda leaning twords it just being a large current draw in a small space causing some interfearence...but not sure, thought Id ask cuz someones heard of this before Id think??? :) :disappoin Im going to run a ground loop isolator and redo a couple ground, upgrade the ground off the battery and also upgrade the battery and see what happens.... Thanx for any help :)

you are overpowering your front speakers with bass, get some bass blockers around 120-150 Hz and put them on your front speakers.

It isnt distortion, it seriously sounds like im loosing the station...I have a bass controll knob for my amp-i keep the system at the same volume have the subs up and the station gets static, turn down just the sub amp and its fine....??? Kinda strange....!!! :) (I keep the deck bass at 0 or -1)....

when you turn up the sub amp and start to hear static,
where exactly is the static coming from...??
here's how you can find out:
disconnect one wire from all of your speakers except one
let your music play normally and turn your sub amp up and down to see if you still have the same problem
doing each speaker the same way will find out if its a system wide or localized problem
doing it this way vice the fader/balance controls guarantees isolation in a real world setting (the way it's normally played)...
