99 Silverado key cylinder will not return?

Newbie here! My key cylinder will not spring back to the run position once it is started. it works fine if i just pull it back. Will this be a problem with the Key? Cylinder? or the housing around it? Can it be replaced fairly easily with out the airbag being disabled?

Go to a locksmith and get some dry graphite powder to lubricate the cylinder. I don't think GM uses a wet lube in the ignition.

The Locksmith can tell you for sure...
