I havea 2001 Celica. I have had this car in the shop 5 times in 2 years, as it it using oil. It uses about 5 quarts of oil in 3000 miles. The shop wants to blame this on me and the fact that I have an air intake system on the car. In 300 miles, the car used 1/2 quart of oil They are now doing an oil comsumption test. There is no visible sign of leaking. There is no oil visible on the engine. The mechanic keeps teling Toyota they nees to replace the short block. Toyota refses and keeps replacing the number 4 bearing. I am at my wits end, as the shop has the car for 5-6 weeks trying to get it right. It is under warranty.

It is a 2001. has 83000 miles. All I know is that the repair shop has put in new rods once, and replaced the #4 BEARING twice. The car is bac to the shop as I post this. It used 1 quart of oil in 400 miles. There is no puddle under the car, no visible oil on the engine and they say there is no visible area where there is a leak. The exhaust does not spew black smoke. IThe mechanic states there needs to be a new short bloc put in, but Toyota refuses to.

Man, I hate imports in general because of the good reputation they have with the general public. All car makes are the same to me, except Kia :P. They all break down and bust at the same frequency. Given what I just said, all car dealers are the same, they only understand by legal action. Go to a lawyer with a paper threatening legal action if the problem is not resolved in 1 week, whatever the problem might be, and with proper data showing that there is no more oil consumption. Your car is under warranty. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SUE THEM! My car is no longer under warranty, and now I'm struggling to fix problems that GM should have fixed, but they employee morons and can't seem to do proper diagnostics.
