I found this 1984 Fiero with the 2.5L engine Auto for a very cheap price. This car has a new bright red paintjob and it looks great. It has sat for about a year and needs new brake lines run from what the owner says.

I did a lot of research on this car and it seems they do have a few issues, but if you maintain these cars, they will be pretty good cars.

Here are my questions I have..........

1) What kind of MPG can I expect with mostly highway travel?

2) I hear about the fire issue, but the car will not burn up if the oil level is kept full and the car is not driven hard. Is this correct?

3) What kind of popular upgrades are done to the wimpy 4Cyl Auto for performance and economy (more economy than anything).

Thanks!

If the 2.5 iron duke is properly tuned you should be able to get mid 30s mpg.

Keep an eye on the oil level, bad connecting rods can let loose and blow through the block.

Not much you can do to an auto 84 Fiero for performance. Insuring the car is properly tuned and being easy on the gas is the best for performance.
