Yes, I sold the DSM :(. It was sad to see it go, but guess what I got in it's place? An 06 Evo IX GSR! Man, this thing is just amazing. I got it used, and the previous owner did a couple things to it already, so it dyno'd at 335 to the wheels.

I'm not staying out of the DSM game though. One day, I hope to get a 1g awd and build a track only car. Plus, my best friend just got a 90 gsx, so that is gonna be our project, along with the evo.

Theres the cheaper of the three: The RS, pretty much stripped down for race.
Then there is the mid priced one: The GSR (called GSR in japan not sure if its really called GSR in US, I know the USDM Evo VIII GSR were just called the Evo VIII)

Then the more expensive one: the MR

Yes, Mitsu USA doesn't give the midrange model any other designation, but for clarity, we all call them GSRs like the overseas markets do.

18k is a fantastic price for that car even after trade in and downpayment, the payment would be quite manageable. I bought mine new, which is dumb, but I had never had a "new" car my whole life and decided it was time. :)

Heh thanks guys. I really will miss the DSM, it was my first turbo car and it taught me alot. But, I decided it was time for some change since if you count my RS I had before the GSX, I had an eclipse for 6 years. I'm still gonna stick around though, and share my evo stories with everyone lol.

EDIT: Ya, there are a couple models of the evo. You have the RS, IX (GSR), the MR, and SE.

RS is the stripped down one, HIDs, no power locks/windows/radio and aluminum roof (I think) and no spoiler.
IX(GSR) is the "base model".
MR is the 6 speed with upgraded suspension, HIDs, and other stuff.
SE is the "special edition" with different rims, red stitched seats, and a cool lip.

THEN, on top of that, you could have the extra package called the SSL (sun, sound, leather) option put on the GSR which gives HIDs, full leather seats and an upgraded stereo. It gets confusing lol.

2Gs aren't even DSMs technically (though many 95s are badged as such), much less EVOs. But since the modding process is nearly identical, and so many parts are shared (look at my EVO running a 2g ECU and 1g BOV, etc) it's all the same thing in the end as far as I'm concerned. :)

You _totally_ should have sold your DSM to one of us instead of trading it in lol. Have fun with the EVO though...

Lol, I actually traded the car into a Nissan dealership, then yesterday, a friend of my who has a badass 3kgt vr4 and his friend went and bought it! So, it's still "in the family" and it went to some good guys.

Ya, the SE option was only on the 06's, and only on the Tarmac black, Graphite gray and Apex silver colors.

Ya, I know. I had the car on Autotrader for 2 weeks and only got 2 responses..... One from an idiot who asked why I "converted" the interior to tan/black haha, and another guy from the Bahamas asking if I was willing to ship there and other tech questions.

I could have probably gotten more money from private sell, but hey, it worked out in the end and I'm happy! :grinyes:

Ahh, one of the two cars with higher insurance than me:) How are you liking no cruise control? I was looking at EVOs before the SRT but my insurance is a little less and the msrp was literally half lol for a car thats almost matching your hp at the wheels. But I am digging the gun metal rims. That was the first thing to make it into the weight savings pile on the 2g... I'm glad my RS came without all that BS. I would have ordered one without AC too if it had been possible.

Only thing I wish that came on every GSR would be HIDs. The stockers aren't that great. The people on EvoM say that the ebay plug and play kit works really well and looks damn good. For $150 and a 1.5 year warranty, I think I might have to get them :grinyes:

does that version have the center diff? cuz that would be icing on the cake for me. i plan to get one as soon as i can afford one lol turn the gsx into a track/strip beast. nice ride but it would look more badass in black i would have to say especially with those rims which are very nice as well

AFAIK, all models starting in 05 come with ACD. ACD has it's drawbacks though. I also heard the factory HIDs weight something ridiculous like 40 lbs, all components included.

Dang on the weight, but the stock bulbs are kinda poopy FTL. It's gonna be just a DD with nice power and maybe like 1-2 times per month at the strip. Nothing is gonna be upgraded for a while when I have some payments due hahaha.
No parts left from the gsx, sold it as is with everything in it.

Totally. The only things I'd add to it is maybe a cf lip and a red mitsu emblem, which will match the red emblem I'll put on the back, and cf uk badge I'll probably replace the chrome one that's on there right now. Then..... some black with a red pinstripe wheels to top it all off, along with a dark window tint.

No comparison, sadly lol. Night and day. The only real big difference is ride quality. The ride was so smooth on the dsm, but the evo is much stiffer to begin with, plus there is lowering springs on it.

Sounds like it will be pimpin. If I get one, its going to stay stock. The most I'll do is intake/exhaust, tint, wheels and tires and thats it. I'm tired of shit tearing up and not being reliable so whatever I get next is staying stock.

Dude, a turbo back exhaust, mbc, and a flash gets you into the 300hp range with perfect drivability. Just imagine what stuff an intake, better intercooler pipes and a couple other little things will do :grinyes:

Might as well throw a stock appearing Evo Green on there too, and cams, and run 11s. :D Tough to stay stock on the EVOs, they mod really well.
