If anyone has put coilovers on their honda please let me know what setup you chose and tell me how the ride quality turned out? Thank You

What type of coilovers are you talking about..
Are you talking about the true coilovers or coilover conversion kits (like skunk and Ground Control)

I have Koni(yellows) with Skunk coilover kit. They are stiff and getting a little bouncey.

Two of the best balanced kits
1.)Bilstein/Nuespeed coilovers

2.)Progress Coilovers

I have the 1 one, very good ride. great handling.
The elite set-up is by Tein, but very expensive.

very stiff!
what is your goal and how much can you spend?

I have a set of ground controls w/o shocks on my '99 civic ex and the ride is still great. I am playing to go with koni yellows when the stock shocks blow. I am VERY satisfied with the ride on my GC coilovers i would definetely recommend them

I have the Koni true coilovers on my car and I love the handling and ride now. It's dropped approx 50mm (2 inches) now. Each shock can be adjusted for how soft or firm you want the ride.

Sleeves are not a good alternative to a true threded body shock.
Whether it is weaponR, GC, or skunk.

I thought Eibach good compared to generic ... Doesn't Ground Control use Eibach springs as well??

actually, when it's designed properly it's the same thing. the main thing is matching the spring rates properly, which most companies fail to do.

keep in mind that it's very rare that the sleeve itself is a major problem with a conversion kit's design... it's the spring itself.

Ground Control is a very efficient, durable, and worthy design. when teamed with a good strut, the system works just as well as any average true coilover setup. GC technicians will also set you up with the proper spring rates for the purpose the kit is going to be used for and the strut it will be used with.

I have GC's on my '99 civic but what is the best combination struts to use with these? I heard Koni Yellows, or Tokiko's...? Any have a Ground Control setup?

the tokico's are the worst struts to use with coilovers....the Koni's are the best, and of course the most expensive...for the buck, AGX are great struts

I personally have the H&R coilovers and they are excellent...I also like the progress comp coilovers...the ride is a little better with the progress but I don't really have a good set of tires to compare the handling part.....I had the GC and I really didn't like em that much

This is exactly the point I am trying to make, drift, can you honestly answer the question, and say, "yes I think this is the best combo"

No, it is hard to do that. It is hard enough to do it with a shock spring combo, to get it right, when you also add height adjustability to it, it is even more complicated.

That is why I am not a big fan of sleeves, because no matter what shock you get, they shock is not specifically valved for any specific spring. And then you want to mess whith adjusting the height, and travel of the shock??

I'd rather take the guess work out of it with a threaded body shock, that is designed for the spring rates.

Ditto, quality on these is amazing. And the ride, sweeeeeeet :D
I'd highly recommend them, they're expensive yes, but you'll never regret it or need another setup

They arent really that much compared to anyother true coilover setup.

I have Eibach Sportline springs with KYB AGX. Very good combination and is a great setup for somebody on a budget. If I could do it over I would get Koni Yellow Sport cause it will allow me to adjust the height about 1" more. :)

I just changed to Tanabe coilovers. Originally it was a bit hard at first, but is settling in now, gotten a bit softer, and it is a bit bouncy, but its great on the smooth roads. Feel like you're floating, and corners are much better. :sun:

Best thing being able to adjust the height! Probably get it up another half inch at the front, still a bit too low, so should be even smoother when it gets put up :)

I read from other posts that Tokica Illuminas "Whites" work excellent with Ground Control. Some even send the that Tokica "Blues" work good too, but I know that the "white" are better. I'm planning to put "whites" plus g/c on my 97 Honda Accord.
