starting problem

i have a 2000 4runner. everything is great but it has a slow start. it takes a count or two to crank. it is just slower than what it should be. all spark plugs have been replcaced. i think the engine was steam cleaned before i bought it. could it have messed up a seal or something? any suggestions where to start?

ive also noticed no difference when its hot or cold.

Are you in a very cold place? Toyota starters or some car starters sometimes having that problem during cold times. In that case you need to drain battery before starting... If not, check your wires there might be wiredly wrong wires or lose wires connecting to battery.

If your battery is the original, it is something that needs to be tested. It is most likely your battery.

ive charged my battery and it still does the same thing. and i live in alabama, so we know its not cold weather. thanks for your help.

You have to do more than just charge the battery to test it. Bring it somewhere where they load test it. You can charge a low-capacity battery until your blue in the face, but if it has no capacity, it won't start your car. You need alot of current (electricity) to start it.

I had the same thing in my work truck. It had a "dead cell" in it. I put in a new battery and it starts up just fine.
