Car demographics..

I'm on vacation right now, so I've really noticed how car demographics vary from state-to-state. For example, in So. Utah, I regularly would go days without seeing a Volvo. I'd estimate them to be less than 1% of the car population. But now, I'm in Seattle, and ever since mid-Oregon (and everything North of it) I've been seeing Volvos everywhere!! They seem to be about 10% of the car population here!! In addition, though the G20 is the least-common Infiniti where I live, I see a disproportionate number of G's in Seattle compared to other Infinitis.
Also, in So. UT, 95-99 Sentras and 98-2001 Altimas are prevalent whereas here I am seeing hundreds upon hundreds of 91-94 Sentras and 93-97 Altimas!!
It's very strange! Anyone else take a cross-country road trip and notice this?

Well being from Wellington myself- I never saw much Porsches or Ferraris there- but Auckland is crawling with them- And in turn I don't see much Renault Clios, Fiat Puntos, or Citroen Xsaras in Auckland- but dammit There is tons of them in Wellington.........
Maybe it's just the regional differences

I've figured the Volvo thing out - Volvo has a reputation for being environmentally friendly and sells a lot of cars to the tree-hugging type, and offers all-wheel-drive on many of its vehicles, the perfect compliment to northwestern winters. And where 80% or so of Utah is Republican, Seattle tends to be left-wing. So, combine all that and you get more Volvos in Seattle than Utah.
Now for the Infiniti and old/new Sentra and Altima thing...

its more like city to city. The city I live in is crawling with PT Cruisers/Beetles/Taurus'
if we take a trip downstate there are tons of Corvettes/Miatas/Boxsters/SC430s
odd i think
but i did notice when we went to NC last year how they have more of the open car/ roadsters down there they had tons of porsches/mercedes/vettes/an occasional ferrari

Try living in Florida!! I know the wife and I make really good money, we're in the upper 20% of income earners, but all day long I'm driving next to Porsches, Mercedes, Ferraris, Lambos, Hummers, etc... I often look around at these cars I can't afford and say, WHERE IS THIS MONEY COMING FROM?? I won't even go into property values, the average house here is $240K!! Thank God we bought ours 7 years ago!!

Heck, I see a different set of cars between the winter and summer seasons around here. Gone are the Porches, Benz and BMWs and in come the Jeeps, Broncos and Rams.

Well, as far as Seattle goes, I've just noticed that there are alot more "nice" cars in Seattle than there are here in Spokane. It's pretty rare to see a Ferrari or Lambo here, but I see them all the time over in Seattle...
People in Seattle area have more money than the folks out here...
