wondering if anyone with track experience has tried a 350 out at a NASA HPDE or SCCA street school.

yah, im interested in it as a pure street car, but as a racer im interested in what breaks first and if it feels good.

autocross impressions also welcomed. it might be my emergency "rain" car if its not too piggy in stock form.

thanks,

uh, i guess racers arent buying this car... bad sign for me! :( is it too numb, too cushy, too heavy?

i don't have a 350Z, but like a lot of other people, i'm trying to get one. But my dilemma is that i'm not sure if i want it over an S2000...I could have a S2000 in a few days if I trade in my CL-S, but I would have to wait, and wait, and wait for the Z...(while my CL-S's already low value depreciates!!!)

As a racer...it's heavy, so are a lot of cars, but who cares? performance is there, and you can always "lighten" the car someway (wheels, new seats, take out spare, etc...)

Comfy?...i don't know cause i don't have one, but so what if it is...performance is there, comfort would be a plus, who cares if the seats are too "cushy", any serious racer would easily swap them for some recaros, or sparcos...i'm assuming everyone and their mom is going to drop it at least 1 1/2 inches so don't worry, comfort will be gone quick!

Numb? I have no idea what your talking about, but I heard handling was great (if that's what your referring to...)

Basically if getting one wasn't so hard, i would have one by now, maybe i'll wait a little while longer, but i know when i go test drive a convertible (S2K) when winters over, the 350Z may not seem that great to me anymore!

the S2000 is a really impressive car thats NOT heavy by modern standards. i also think it looks awesome- clearly one of the best of the modern designs. most racers drive trucks on the street, but a few of us like sports cars.

i already have the ultimate performance convertible, so i dont really want another open car. the Z coupe is a better replacement for my 1994 probe GT, a great car despite saddled with a lousy name and FWD.

i would think resale on a CL-S would be good. a nice looking, fast car.

speaking of price, a 350Z is about 4 grand less than an S2000. the enthusiast model gets you the only racy option, the LSD. used S2000's seem to be as expensive as new, and many of them have lived alot of time over 7K RPM. similar issues with the C5, also a very nice car.

if didnt have the cobra already, id would definitely choose the S2000 over the 350. its gotta be a future classic with its ex, the Z i dont think so, although it could be a perfectly nice car.

s2k is a HOT car, convertible feels real nice...my friend just got one last week, and we ride around in...it was like 45 degrees outside the day he got it, and still drove it with the top down, i was in it, and the cold didn't bother me at all! although it does pick up, a member on this board, carlson, told me that at red-lights he finds himself playing "catch-up" with the V6's becuase of the S2k's lack of torque...although it's fast, light, and convertible, i think i could have a lot of fun in a 350Z...this car would also be my daily driver, so i figure traction control and the vehicle dynamic control (i think that's what it was) would be real nice in the 350Z, especially in winter/rain...

we get some rain here but no snow. i guess i can see the use of ASC (Automatic Stupidity Control); ABS (Assinine Braking, Sh!thead); and TC (Throttle Cutout) in those cases. hehe :)

i actually just autocrossed our luxo-barge jaguar xk8 this weekend for kicks. 300hp and no LSD- this was easily the worst thing about the car despite being on street tires and weighing 3800 lbs. couldnt throttle steer cuz one tire would spin and unload the rear end, no traction. i never tried it with the TC-Throttle Cutout engaged, usually those are so aggressive they REALLY slow you down. :)

hehe, and im not used to driving on street tires. when that thing started to slide, it just would not stop, sent the course workers running for their lives. hehe i kept that thing sideways as much as i could. :)
