Here is another project I've been working on, while striping the paint of my MR-2 model.

Its an old mold from Monogram (date from 1979) the revell re-issued a couple of year ago. The kit suffers from fitting problems, but details are quite good, specially if we take into account its age. The major problem I had to deal with was a major gap between the hood and the body (it was near 1 mm in some places). I minimized it with some epoxy putty, but it's not perfect.

Here are some pictures of what was done.

That's looking very nice :sunglasse

Was the hood itself undersized? I have the original diecast body version of this Monogram kit, and when I was looking at it recently I noticed the hood fit wasn't good, like a 1/25 scale hood trying to fit a 1/24 scale opening, most noticeable where the hood meets the cowl :shakehead And the mold lines on the diecast body won't be nearly as easy to remove. But it'll be worth it, gorgeous kit otherwise.

That looks really good, Marco. The detail is good, like you mentioned. Is there any windshield for it?

Nice job so far, especially the chassis. What a great looking car.

What a beautiful car! And you're doing an equally beautiful job with the kit. Without the hood on, I can't tell how well it was fixed, but going off of your other work, this will be excellent. Keep us posted!

That looks like a great build, and the weathering is superb - can't wait to see the finished pics!

I'd love to get my hands on this kit :)

It was reissued within the last year, so there should be plenty out there :) I bought one and although it is detailed, the body needs LOTS of work due to the extremely prominent mould lines, as well as the aforementioned bonnet fit issues  However as shown in the pics above, there is lots of detail, so I'm looking forward to building mine one day, although perhaps with a littlle help from an old Tamiya Mk2 that is in my parts box :grinyes:
