Hiya,
I just bought a partially built model on ebay... just wondering, could I just immerse the model in brake fluid and the superglued parts will debond itself?
Thx in advance

If you want superglue to go away I would advice caustic soda instead of brake fluid, it will eat the CA in minutes.
Look for information before using caustic soda, it's dangerous.

I spilled some super glue on a model, so I soaked for awhile in nail polish remover and it came off pretty easily. Just make sure it has acetone in it.

Hi AceCobra,
I don't know what caustic soda is. Maybe it's the same stuff as my idea. I took drain cleaner (I hope it's the right word) for bathrooms. I worked fine for me.
But make shure that no white metall parts on your model because they will be eaten by this hot stuff. And don't do that in your living space because of the vapors.

I think I read somewhere that you can toss it in the freezer and the superglued parts will separate with a little gentle prying.

Thanks for the heads up... I just had a read a Wiki for Caustic soda and it looks pretty damn corrosive although it isn't as corrosive as those hydrofluric acid the dental technicians use to etch the fit surface of a veneer! In fact, I see them etching it without gloves! Its quite dodgy lol. I'm a dental student in case u thought this was bit weird lol.

I would definitely NOT use nail polish remover. it will eat/melt your plastic model. the freezer thing sounds safest to me, specially if it is an old out of production kit. I know heat debonds cyanoacrylates but that too would destroy the plastic in which you are trying to preserve.
I'd go with the freezer method, personally.

Well, Caustic Soda seemed to have done some good... but I thought they will just actually debond rather than soften the bond of the glue... I'm not sure what glue this guy used but the kit actually had so much glue it feels like UHU glue but it is realy dry, but after it has been CS for a while, it seems to soften to bond to like UHU texture... lol, things you do to save money! But I think I'd rather go for an new kit next time lol... This kit is the Fujimi Enthusiast Lambo Countach 25th Aniversary... I'm not sure if this is a scarce kit but I never seen it on ebay and it was £9 delivered - bargain!
