97 F250 HD Brake Controller Harness

I've been told there should be a factory harness under the dash somewhere to connect a trailer brake controller to. Can anybody tell me where and what it looks like? There is a 30A fuse for trailer brakes but the wire going into the 7 way connector looks like it is only about a 14ga wire. The 12V feed and ground wires are much larger size then the brake wire. I'm going to be pulling a twin axle car trailer (4 brakes) and am concerned that I might need to run a larger guage wire back from the fuse panel to the connector. Is the factory harness capable for this job?

Should be under the dash (drivers side) maybe a little to the right of the steering column. 6 prong connector and I believe the color is gray.
Sounds like it's factory, got a picture? If it is, it should be fine, I think that's about how think the wires are on mine too.

Well, I still can't find it but your truck isn't the same as mine WC1 so I don't think a picture would help. Thanks anyway!

But the connector is, give me a few and I'll take a picture so you can see exactly what it is your looking for. Is the tow package oem from Ford? If so it's there somewhere.

It's there. I do however think it is a bit farther than " just " right of the column.

Well, I'll look again when I get a few of these other jobs out of the way. I have a factory 7 way plug out back for the trailer and a 30A fuse in the fuse box labeled "trailer brakes" so I figured there must be a connector somewhere under the dash for a controller. I was told all these trucks came through with the connector but I can't say it was from a reliable source!

I guess mine doesn't have one. It's tough to look for one when you can't lay like that very long and am trying to look through bifocal glasses! Thanks for your inputs.
