Tyre Help...!

Looked through the tutorials, didn't find anything regarding this matter.
Im building a Tamiya Jaguar MK ll, the body is painted pure white. I want the tyres to be white too, fully white or almost all white (dont know the correct term for this)
Have checked ebay over & over again for the tyres i want but nothing comes up. I could consider buying a car kit just for the tyres but all kits with white tyres seem to be 1/25th scale and my Jag is 1/24th.
Guess im resigned to the fact that i'll have to paint the tyres  , tricky job..!
Anyone know if there are any kind of stencils out there to make the painting a bit easier. Also, what brand of paint should i use for painting onto rubber, wont Tamiyas acrylic paint crack when painted onto rubber ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Mike..........

Are you looking to do wide whitewalls? If so, there are no stencils available, but SHABO did some dry transfers. Kevin at StradaSports.com carries them. They're number SHA-28 1/24-1/25 Whitewalls Wide/White Tire Dry Transfer.

Go to http://www.stradasports.com/catalog_page.htm (http://www.stradasports.com/catalog_page.htm) and search for them.

Dry transfers are a good option. If you wanted to paint them, you could use a drafting circle template (A square plastic sheet with a couple dozen circles of different sizes cut into it, available at stationary stores for a few bucks) and some white acrylic paint. Only use acrylic paint on tires made of rubber of vinyl, because enamel and lacquer won't dry, and may damage the tires. An airbrush will work the best.

If you can't get a crisp edge, use the circle template to cut some masking out of tape or frisket.

Floquil's Polly Scale (wate based) works great on rubber and vinyl tires. . .

Airbrush for best result. Hand brushing still looks pretty well too. :)

Hi Mike
Try using warhammer skull white and thin it with an acrylic thinner.
I tried on an really old tyre with almost completly dryed out color thinned with etyl acetate to airbrush use and it didn´t look bad so with a fresh color it probably will look great.
I can take pics for you on my test if you want me to:grinyes:
