Hello all,
I just had to pass this along, I could hardly believe it. I just took a highway trip, driving within the speed limits (55mph) I was able to achieve just over 32 miles per gallon. I have been keeping track around town as well and I am averaging about 23 mpg.
How is everyone else doing with theirs?
I have a 98 Transport, 3 door with the 3.4 engine.

That;'s pretty good mpg's. i don't think I've ever achieved anything over 24 mpg with my'97 Venture (sister to the Transport) 3 dr. w/ 3.4 .Of course I don't do as much highway driving as I used to and there are usually 3 other people riding around with me and my van was never completely empty to save on weight. Even my 2006 Uplander averages 19 to 21 mpg and I have the same driving habits as I did with my Venture. I'll have to see what mileage I get next winter as I'm hoping to take the family to Florida for a week and that's a 22 hour drive from NY, and mostly highway.

I just recently drove up from Sarasota Fl. with a FULL load to the vermont canadian border in NY . I have a 96 TS w/3.4 and it gave me 30.6 mpg . I was really amazed as I went between 70-75 the whole trip and that was through the Penn. mountains. The car now has 149000 on her clock, and been 1 of the most dependable rigs I have ever had. Love it

These are really good figures. With such numbers, one has to go to something really smaller and crampy to achieve significantly better performance. My '93 3.8 , at a very satisfactory 31 mpg highway (imperial gallon) is better than my Kia SPortage driven in same conditions. ANd indeed, this mileage is done at highway speeds around 75 mph....and I've never measured any better mileage at lower speeds...but to be honest, lower speeds are driven on winding or hilly roads...so not fair to compare oranges with apples...and going 55 on open highway is kind of risky..
Driving with the wind is much better than against....so performance may vary significantly depending on wind direction and temperature.

We routinely have gotten >28mpg when travelling, but with 116K we don't travel very long distances in our 97 w/3.4. But the good news, it's only 7-8 miles to work and back and I only fill up about every 3-4 weeks.
