Is it any good? I'm thinking of subscribing, mags are a great source of reference for me but most of the UK one's suck! They're full of Ford Fiesta's, Vauxhal Corsa's and Renault 5's that all look the same.

That publisher puts out a couple of rags; Import Tuner and Sport Compact Car are the "good" ones that come to mind... They also do "Super Street."

Most of teh cars in imporrttuner are stupid, get superstreet or sport-compact-car, those are the 2 best car magazines (in my opinion)

I'd recommend getting a subscription to Sport Compact Car too. They do some kickass issues - last months (not the current one) was all about J-spec beasts. That's where I got the reference pics for the C-West RX7. They have pretty good, no-nonsense writing, unlike the stuffy dry content you might find in a mag geared toward production cars.

Don't know if you can take advantage of this, Chris, since you'd be a "foreign subscription..."

I get them ALL from work for free, Import Tuner and Super Street seem to be geared toward the 14-17 y/o crowd whereas Sport Compact Car is more of a gear-head pub. They do some impressive step-by-step tech articles and the cars are of a higher caliber. I leave IT and SS in the dumpster at the end of the month!

Super Street DOES cover some nice JDM cars (Signal Auto Skyline etc., although they're accompanied by useless articles), but they also have a very high rice content. i, personally, wouldn't wipe my ass with Import Tuner. it's garbage. Sport Compact Car is without a doubt the best American-written Import car magazine. they do more articles on PERFORMANCE vehicles, like the God-of-all-cars C-West RX-7, whereas Import Tuner does articles on show vehicles, most of them Civics and Integras (think Revell Civics and you've got the picture). i personally don't want to read about a bunch of Civics with ugly body kits, huge sounds systems and the only thing done to the engine is Nos. if you're like me, then go Sport Compact Car. if you're looking for PURE JDM car (C-West, Bomex, Signal, drifting etc) stuff, go with the japanese mags, like Option and Option2. only 2 catches with these: a)they're written entirely in Japanese, so reading up on the feature cars is useless; and b)it's expensive for a subscription when you're not in Japan. but hey, in the long run, it's totally up to you. i completely agree with you on the Max Power though...who wants to see a Citroen with a Veilside rip-off body kit? only reason i buy it is for the Max Power babes. lol. hope this helps some!:D :D

I buy Super Street and SCC every month Which i both like and i believe are very good. I stoped buying import tunere casue most of the cars are all show and no go, wat the hell is up with that a car that looks good but is bome stock except for a 4 inch exhaust, it gets on my nerves!!

Sports compact car is my fav of the ones mentioned. I have a Subscription to Import tuner. im not going to renew it. they have a girl on the cover every issue. they used to be beautiful women. now they are just weird looking girls that ruin a perfectly good picture of a hooked up car. my 2 cents

Looks like the general consensus is with SCC.

For all the Australian modelers, there is a magazine called Australian Models and Hobbies. Although it isn't really for custom cars, there is some good reviews of kits and shows.

For JDM reference, both OPTION and OPTION2 are very good, despite it's price.
Although the text is written in Japanese, and it's really a pain for those who customize 1/1 car, but for the modelers, I think good pictures matter most.
In that respect, I think OPT and OPT2 provides lots of good color pictures, including the ads.
And detail conscious style of the Japanese magazines is all in there.

There are a few places online that sell issues of Option. Pacific Rim is one, www.iloveracing.com (http://www.iloveracing.com) and then go to the books and magazines section. there are some other places too, but as of now i can't remember them. the issues are a little pricey, but they're huge and are full of pictures. even most of the ads are good. i have an "in" so to speak. my uncle lives in Tokyo, so whenever i want a new issue of Option, i just e-mail him and ask him to send me one and tell him he can count it as my birthday present! lol:D
PS: damn FOTW, i didn't know Warren had that nice a body...:silly: :dogpile: :spit:

I also sent an email from the Option site about subscriptions but it got returned!
So if u can find the other places that sell these i'll try my luck there.
