programming problems 2000 suburban

I appreciate all the help everyone has posted. I bought a new remote for my 2000 Suburban. I held down the door unlock, turned the ignition on, off, on, off. The doors locked and unlocked when i let off of the door unlock button. I held lock & unlock on the remote and after 15 seconds, the doors locked and unlocked. I released the remote buttons and turend the ignition on, off.

It seems like everything worked but the remote doesn't work afterwards. Any suggestions??? The dealership says they will do it for no less than $41 but it shouldn't be more than $80.
