Does anyone know what KIND of paint would be on a 2002 Grand Prix? I'm getting ready to purchase supplies to paint the car, but have no idea what kind of paint is already on it. Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to AF!!
The paint on your car is a clear coat finish paint. What that means is that there is a base coat of color laid down and then the clear is applied over the base. I would check the car for a paint code and go to a reputable paint shop to get the color you need. You will also need clear coat to go over the paint in addition to the color.

Hey GTP Dad, thanks for the reply. I should've been more specific about the paint. Would you know if it's an acrylic, enamel, or something else? I was told by someone that it's a powder-coat, but I have a hard time believing that. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Most of the paints today are Acrylic Enamel. They are hard and wear well. As for powder coat who ever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. Most of the factory finishes are baked to dry them but they are not powder coat. The clear coat is actually a polyurethane that forms the tough finish over he color and allows a lot of latitude when polishing or removing scratches.
