k just wondering and ik this is a dumb question but its drivin me nuts y do they call cavaliers and sunfires J-bodies?

its the name that gm gave for the certain frame/platform to build different versions of a car on. the same applies to camaro/firebird/trans am's f-body, mustangs fox body, and pretty much all of gm cars. hence tahoe/yukon share the same frame, silverado/sierra..blah...blah....the new platform for the camaro/firebird is the australian derived zeta. so yea, thats why. its just a name given by gm for the specific frame that our cars were built on.

It's not a "nickname" really, it's the VIN designation for this body. The fourth character of the VIN designates the chassis/body. So for a cavalier/sunfire, the fourth character is a "j". Hence, the j-body. Each body has it's own character - "n" is for the Grand Am, Malibu, Alero. And so on...
