Hi Guys,
This is my first post. I was looking for help replacing oil pan gasket on 98 v8 explorer. I keep hearing you need to remove engine. Seems like a lot of work just to replace a $20.00 part. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and God Bless!!

you don't need to remove the engine unless there's a cross member in the way.
here's what you do:
Drain the oil, by removing the sump drain plug on the bottom of the pan.
remove all the bolts holding the pan on. they're around th edge of the pan.
lower the pan carefully. (there's probably still some oil in there)
pell off/scrape off the old the old gasket.
place new one on.
bolt it up tighen, but not too tight.
screw in and tighten the plug.
fill up with new oil.
of course, if there is a cross member in the way, you'll need to either pull the engine or drop the crossmember.
