05 Town & Country Rear AC not cooling

Any ideas why a rear ac won't cool. Fan works fine in back and ac works fine up front but no cooling in back. It has manual controls.

The rear unit is located in the rear passenger side in the quarter window area.

The only experience I've had with this motor was on my 96 GC two years ago. This may or may not apply to your 05. Gain access to the rear climate package by removing the passenger side rear most trim panel and the next larger panel forward. Once inside you'll see a large black irregular shaped plastic "box" that contains the blower and ducting. At about the middle you'll see a small metal shaft protruding about 1/4 inch. That is the mode door shaft. External to the package on the outboard side and aligned with the visible shaft is the motor. It's held on with three screws and has one connector. Costs around $30 from the dealer.

The drivers temp control controls the motor so once you have a visual on the shaft you will see the shaft rotate as you slide the control hot to cold - if it's working. You can check continuity through the motor windings at the connector just to verify it's bad. A good motor will read several hundred ohms, a bad motor will read infinite ohms (open).

Thank you RIP. I found the rear ac unit. It seems pretty much as you described. Looks like a bugger to get to the motor tho' being between the outside wall, but maybe once I get the trim/panels out and seats down.
