Dropped my bike monday night. I wasn't riding though I was trying to unload it from my carrier and I lost it. Sucks so F'ng much.I haven't ridden since I dropped it because I get sick just looking at the damage.

Anyway the story goes like this. I travel alot and really wanted a way to bring my bike with me on trips without having to ride it. A trailer would be ideal to tow behind my blazer but unfortunately my apt complex doesn't allow you to park trailers within its gates and outside the gates is just bad news. So I got out my thinking cap and came up with a carrier for it that slips into my trailer hitch. I bought one of those ice chest carrier thingys and some steel square stock and busted out the welder. After a few hours of cutting and welding I had something that appeared quite strong, stable and custom built to hold my 919. The weight was within my hitches rating and I already have an upgraded rear suspension so my 400 pounder barely makes the blazer droop.

The first time loading it was difficult to say the least but with some straps and some moving blankets she was snug as a bug and ready to roll. I made an 800 mile trip without a hitch and was amazed. Since then I've made quite a few 400-800 mile trips with it strapped to the back of my blazer. Works great. Better than I could have imagined.

Anyway Monday night I got back from a 400 mile drive and went to unload it. I hit a snag rolling it off the rack and I lost its balance and was just not in the right position to save it. It fell flat on its side from about a foot off the ground, and then to add insult to injury I overcompensated for its weight while picking it back up and tossed her right over onto her other side:shakehead .

Haha I really really wanted to cry. Damage is as follows:
~right side mirror busted
~right side bar end scraped and scratched
~Front brake lever busted off
~small crease and scratch on muffler heat shield
~Two small dents on rights side of tank
~Two smal dents and a slightley larger one on left side of tank.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that the worst dents are on the side that I flipped it onto trying to pick it up.

Luckily that was the only damage, I thought I had gotten away without damaging the tank but later found all the small dents.

Live and learn... trailer is on its way... custom honda 919 rack for sale...

Dude, that really sucks. I truly feel for you. I guess you can be glad it didn't fall on you, and pin you underneath. I hope you get her fixed up and start riding again soon. Come up with a good "survival" story, about how some 4-wheeled retard blabbing on their cell cut you off and you made a miraculous move to save your neck but wadded up the bike. Maybe it'll get you a free one (and only one) at your favorite watering hole.

dude, i know your pain.

when my 954 was still smellin' of new bike smell, i did a stoppie that went vertical. i had to jump off and scath her then let her down. i left the scars to remind me of my own stupidity.

Hey guys thanks for the kind words, hopefully I can get some new parts quick, my local shop doesn't have anything in stock for her but I'll probly just scour ebay, thats where my mirrors were from anyway. I screwed my stock mirrors back in for now and I can still get a finger or two on my brake lever so its still ridable. The scratched exhaust doesn't bother me. The tank really gets me annoyed but I'll leave it for now. its really not that noticable, no scratches or anything just a few small shallow dents.

Look on the bright side, you didn't also damage your SUV.

A friend dropped his bike onto the side of his brand new car. :(
