Engine Knock

I've always had the well known engine knock, normally quieted down once the truck warmed up but it seems it's moved into the motor as a constant annoyance now. And now I almost think I can hear some valves tapping when I try to accelerate when the truck is in its highest gear and the RPMs are low. Just recently after I rolled over 85k, I pulled out and got on it pretty hard and it sounded like a Tupperware container full of nuts and bolts being shaken around. It was only for a second but it really made me wonder what the hell was going on in there.

Has anyone found a solution for the knock, and now my what seems to be tapping valves? Someone mentioned trying that Engine Restore stuff but I haven't done it yet. Any input would be a help...
Thanks

The Engine Restore is only a temp fix.. only good for 5K miles
What kind of oil do you use? brand and weight.

Whatever oil you're using, go to Royal Purple.

All engine restore does is "wash" the buildups out of your engine, which could actually make your knock worse.

huh, I just noticed all three of us have two tone trucks... you two need to get the lower part of your gate painted.

We are all cool like that :)
I may actually do that when I have the truck repainted.. trust me.. does not look as good as it does in the picture anymore.

I was using regular old Castrol 5W-30 for the first 50k miles or so, then I've since switched over to Castrol Full Synthetic 5W-30 for the past 5-6 oil changes. I'm just out of ideas of what to use, maybe it is the oil. I'll look into that Royal Purple stuff...

Chevy engine knok is not what dealers and every body thinks. It is a wrist pin getting ready to let go of a piston, When this happens you wont even have a block to rebuild. Some can last up to 130,000 miles. But do not think you have a motor that will go 200,000 pluse.

I am freeken out because I have the same knock and the dealer did not note it on any worke orders while the truck was under warrenty. I asked them to every time I had oil changed. I had a mustang with that same noise. It tore the block up when it let go.
This problem is all over the net. I think the problem is so huge that chevy dealers are trying to avoid replacen alot of motors. Valves tick clack at half the rpms, pistons slap. rods and wrist pins knock.
